How to Change a Watch Strap

To change a watch strap, measure the lug width, pick a matching strap, use a spring-bar tool to release the old strap and fit the new one. If you are unsure or the watch has quick-release bars or a fixed bracelet, ask us to do it.

Before You Start

  • Lug width: Measure the gap between the lugs. Common sizes are 18, 20 and 22 mm.
  • Strap type: Standard spring bars, quick-release or fixed.
  • Tools: A spring-bar tool and a soft mat.

Steps

Push the spring bar towards the strap with the tool to release it, then lift the strap off. Fit the new strap by seating one end of the spring bar and compressing the other end into the lug hole.

When To Ask For Help
