Sapphire vs Mineral Crystal
By World of Watches •

Sapphire crystal is far more scratch-resistant than mineral glass, and is found on many better-made watches. Mineral crystal is hardened glass, more affordable and good for everyday use. Sapphire can still crack on a hard impact.
The Differences
- Sapphire: Very hard, resists scratches well, often has anti-reflective coating.
- Mineral: Hardened glass. Scratches more easily but is affordable.
- Acrylic: Plastic. Scratches easily but light scratches can be polished out.
Which Should You Choose
If you want a watch to look good for years, choose sapphire. If you want an affordable everyday watch, mineral is fine. Ask which crystal a watch has.
If The Glass Breaks
A cracked glass can let dust and water in. Bring the watch in and we will tell you what is possible.
